About Us

The Greene County YMCA was incorporated in December, 1968. In 1978, $1.3 million was raised to build a new facility on the current 10 acre site which was opened in 1980. An additional campaign for major renovations to the building was completed in 1992. The latest campaign to add 22,000 square feet of new space, plus major renovation was completed in 2007 at a cost of $2.7 million.

The Greene County YMCA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, who serve a 3-year term. An Executive Director and eight full-time employees are responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization. The Y owns and operates the Terry Bellamy Soccer Park, which was named in honor of Mr. Bellamy (YMCA Executive Director, 1974 – 2001) on April 22, 2004 for the leadership role he assumed in the development of the soccer park.
