About Us
The Greene County YMCA was incorporated in December, 1968. In 1978, $1.3 million was raised to build a new facility on the current 10 acre site which was opened in 1980. An additional campaign for major renovations to the building was completed in 1992. In 2007, the Y raised $2.7 million to add 22,000 square feet of new space, along with significant renovations to the current facility. In 2022, $80,000 was raised to build three outdoor Pickleball courts and pavilion. The most recent campaign began in 2023 with a goal of $650,000. Upon reaching the goal, the Y was able to build three additional Pickleball courts, purchase two acres of property adjacent to the Terry Bellamy Soccer Park and convert our boy’s and girl’s locker rooms into family locker rooms with private showers, sinks and toilets.
The Greene County YMCA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, who serve a 3-year term. An Executive Director and eight full-time employees are responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization. The Y owns and operates the Terry Bellamy Soccer Park, which was named in honor of Mr. Bellamy (YMCA Executive Director, 1974 – 2001) on April 22, 2004 for the leadership role he assumed in the development of the soccer park.
